The HIV/AIDS pandemic has already claimed over 20 million lives. As of 2005 another 39 million people are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. HIV/AIDS cases have been reported in all regions of the world. The updated fact sheet prepared by Kaiser Family Foundation for 2005 shows the global face of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, the global response and the economic impact. It also highlights the problem as it affects women and girls in southern Africa.
